As a designer I have always been interested in combining the arts with science. They are often posed as opposites however the two can merge beautifully. Inspired directly by the photography acquired from NASA’s space expeditions, these designs seek to show the vastness of space and explore the unknown.
They were created by first drawing large scale detailed imagery with a fine liner expressing the textures of the planets and shadows cast in space. Other drawings focus more on how the astronauts perform space walks outside their space craft and the essence of exploration. The drawings are then scanned and manipulated digitally. The colour scheme ties in with trend forecasts and finds itself ranging from deep blues to bright pinks. This creates the dynamic feel of space where there is often a vast darkness with bright peaks of light.
